What is Foundayo?
Foundayo™ (orforglipron) is an FDA-approved oral GLP-1 receptor agonist for chronic weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or those who are overweight (BMI ≥27) with at least one weight-related health condition. Made by Eli Lilly, it is the first GLP-1 weight loss pill that can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, and without water restrictions. In clinical studies, patients on Foundayo lost an average of 12.4% of their body weight over 72 weeks.
How does Foundayo work?
Foundayo works by mimicking a natural hormone in the body called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1), which helps regulate appetite and blood sugar. By activating GLP-1 receptors, Foundayo reduces hunger and increases feelings of fullness, helping you eat less naturally. Unlike injectable GLP-1 medications, Foundayo is a small-molecule oral tablet, meaning it can be absorbed through the digestive system without the special absorption enhancers needed by other oral GLP-1 options. If you are eligible for the medication, your Shapely provider will start you at a low dose (0.8 mg) and gradually increase it to minimize side effects.
Will my insurance cover the cost?
Whether your insurance will cover Foundayo depends on your specific plan and medical conditions. With commercial insurance coverage, Foundayo may cost as little as $25 per month. For those without insurance or whose plans don't cover the medication, self-pay pricing starts at $149 per month. As part of your Shapely membership, your weight loss provider and our team of specialized coordinators can send a prior authorization to your insurance to determine coverage for you.
How is Foundayo different from other GLP1s
Unlike injectable GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy and Zepbound, Foundayo is a once-daily oral tablet — no needles required. It also offers unique flexibility: you can take it at any time of day, with or without food, and without any water restrictions. Other oral GLP-1 options like Oral Wegovy require taking the pill on an empty stomach first thing in the morning with limited water. Foundayo's convenience makes it easier to fit into your daily routine.

Who is eligible to join Shapely
Currently Shapely serves adults age 18 and older in the states of California, Florida, New York, and Texas. We will soon be expanding to all 50 US states! Foundayo is approved for adults with obesity (BMI of 30 or greater) or adults who are overweight (BMI of 27 or greater) with at least one weight-related medical condition.
What does my insurance cover?
We navigate insurance on your behalf and are able to work with the vast majority of insurances to get cost-effective access to GLP-1 medications like Foundayo. For patients with commercial insurance, medication co-pays are typically $25 per month but depending on the plan may be higher. For members choosing to use insurance for their visits with Shapely, insurance covers any visits with our expert team of providers and dietitians, though you may be responsible for any cost-sharing, such as co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances.
How long will it take me to lose weight?
In the ATTAIN-1 clinical trial, patients on Foundayo achieved meaningful weight loss over 72 weeks (approximately 18 months). Your Shapely provider will gradually increase your dose over several months to optimize results while minimizing side effects. We find that patients benefit from at least a 12-month comprehensive weight-loss program to establish the proper habits to sustain long-term weight loss.
Will I need labs as a Shapely patient?
Recent labs are strongly recommended (but not required) prior to initiation of most weight loss medications. We will either order labs for you or accept labs completed within 6 months prior to program enrollment. Labs are typically covered by insurance though there may be a co-pay. For patients without insurance, we offer labs for a flat-rate of $75, requiring you to go to a Labcorp location for lab draw.
