Who is eligible for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge?
The Bridge is open to Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in Part D drug coverage — either a standalone prescription plan or a Medicare Advantage plan with drug benefits. Take our 2-minute quiz to check your eligibility. Final eligibility is confirmed by your Shapely provider and your Medicare plan.
What does the $50/month cover?
Eligible Part D beneficiaries get a flat $50/month copay on FDA-approved GLP-1 medications — Wegovy®, Zepbound®, oral Wegovy®, and Foundayo® — instead of the higher out-of-pocket costs Medicare patients typically pay for weight-loss prescriptions.
How does Shapely help with the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge?
Once you join Shapely, you will meet with one of our expert weight loss providers, who will review your medical conditions, weight loss history, and medication list to assess whether you are qualified for the Bridge program. If qualified, your Shapely provider will submit a prior authorization to get the medication approved for the $50 co-pay.
If you are joining Shapely with original Medicare or an eligible PPO plan, you will also have access to expert dietitians and receive a digital weighing scale - all covered by insurance (copays and deductibles may apply).

Doesn't Medicare already cover GLP-1 medications?
Medicare currently only covers GLP-1s when prescribed for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or obstructive sleep apnea — not for weight loss alone. The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is a separate program built to close that gap, giving Part D beneficiaries affordable access to these medications specifically for weight management.
How long does the Bridge program run?
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge runs July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. Pricing and coverage under the program apply during this window; confirm final eligibility with your provider and Medicare plan.
What if I have Medicare Advantage instead of standalone Part D?
You're still eligible. The Bridge covers anyone with Medicare Part D drug coverage, whether through a standalone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage.
What if I'm not eligible for the Bridge program?
If you don't qualify for $50/month Bridge pricing, Shapely can still help. We specialize in helping patients access GLP-1 medications affordably and offer an incredible accessibility program to help you get the medications for the best price possible.
Will I need labs before starting?
Recent labs are strongly recommended before starting most weight-loss medications. We'll order labs for you or accept results from within the last 6 months. Labs are typically covered by Medicare, though a co-pay may apply.
